ASA offers this special science of sound workshop for kids ages 12-17, for free during our meetings.
During the workshop, acoustic demonstrations are presented to families with kids. Guests will also meet researchers and professionals to learn about acoustics careers.

Do I need to register to attend?
In order to attend, everyone must register, including all adults and children. Additionally, proof of vaccination is required for all guests 12 and over. Remember, SPACE IS LIMITED so be sure to register early!

What is the COVID-19 vaccination policy?
ASA must comply with the recently-adopted Seattle/King County policy requiring participants ages 12 and older to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination. Please remember to bring your proof of vaccination to the meeting because you will not be allowed entry without this documentation. People over the age of 5 are required to wear masks indoors.
Can a parent go with their child?
Any adult, such as a parent, troop leader or other guardian can bring children to the workshop. Kids cannot attend alone and must have an adult guardian.
Is this a drop-off event?
This is not a drop-off event so we ask that a parent, troop leader or guardian stay for the duration of the event. Adults will enjoy learning about acoustics too!
My kids don't meet the age requirement. Can they still attend?
All kids will have a great time at the workshop and are welcome to attend, however those aged 12 and older will benefit the most!
Can I bring a child who is not a Girl Scout or Girl Guide?
Yes, you may bring any child who is interested in learning about the science of sound!
Is this event for girls only?
Any children, including boys, can attend and we encourage entire families to join us!
How much does the workshop cost?
The workshop is free, but be advised that you may need to pay for parking at the event location.
What is the ASA Student BYU Chapter?
Brigham Young University (BYU) has a strong interdisciplinary program for acoustics and created an ASA student chapter to encourage their students to get involved with acoustics. Learn more here.
