WAVES (standing for Waves, Acoustics, Vibrations, Engineering and Sound) is the first Master degree in Acoustics labelled as Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees by the European Union that provides the students with a wide spectrum of scientific knowledge and skills in Acoustical Engineering, from advanced wave modeling to real world applications.
The program has been designed to propose a blend between classical lecture courses, practical work sessions and innovative approaches such as flipped
classrooms, problem-driven classes and group projects. It also includes the participation from visiting scholars and guest lecturers.
The master WAVES is an integrated 2-year degree fully taught in English jointly organized by Aix-Marseille University, the University of Coimbra, the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the Ecole Centrale Marseille. It proposes a mobility scheme designed to take advantage of the complementary expertise and facilities of the Partner Universities:
* Semester 1 in Coimbra (Portugal): oriented towards practical engineering applications, along with the teaching of fundamentals.
* Semester 2 at Gandia (near Valencia, Spain): strengthening of fundamental knowledge and introduction to numerical and experimental methods.
* Semester 3 in Marseille (France): devoted to specialization: environmental engineering acoustics, complex media, nonlinear systems, etc...
* Semester 4 Internship possibly within the large network of Associated Partners and Industrial Partners.
